A chilling account based on true events and a book Jack Fredrickson, author of HONESTLY DEAREST, YOU’RE DEAD and A SAFE PLACE FOR DYING calls, “An exciting, cold-case crime novel that races to a shocking conclusion, yes. But more, a scorching, penetrating look at what we’re afraid surrounds us all.”
Now let’s take a peak at The Passerby:
Penn County, Indiana: 1986
Two weeks before Christmas, Eleven-year-old Trudie is strangled to death in her own home. The crime goes unsolved.

Ray believes Trudie deserves justice and he and his publicist friend, Kick Jetton, spend the next two years searching for her killer. He learns that the close-knit community has different ideas about what happened to Trudie that night and many arenât willing to talk at all. With an uncooperative police department and only a few locals willing to help, Ray eventually narrows the list to one key suspect â a man who still lives among them.
Inspired by true events, The Passerby has all the twists and turns of a cold case murder investigation, but with an entirely unique and powerful ending.
