About the Author:

Shirley Wine is the fifth daughter in a family of seven where oral storytelling was encouraged from her Irish roots. Born into a farming family in South Auckland New Zealand, she has lived and worked on the land alongside her husband for many years. She had always written, once having a regular “Country Comment” column in a national daily newspaper and freelancing for local and regional newspapers. This lifestyle provided a rich base for the settings for her stories. Now retired, she lives in Waihi in the beautiful Bay of Plenty.
