A Little About The Folks at Fifty-Eight:
Gerald Hammond is an honourable spy, whose lofty principles have brought him nothing but loneliness and isolation. Catherine Schmidt is the beautiful young daughter of an assassinated spymaster, whose quest for vengeance has left her at the hands of the infamous Head of Soviet State Security. On a secret operation, in Soviet-occupied Germany, Hammond has no knowledge of the forces that support and oppose his mission. He only knows that he must somehow save Catherine to save himself, but, as revelations arise, he begins to wonder which is more dangerous; the enemy he runs from, or the friend he runs to? Set against a factual background of government conspiracy, and one of the most audacious espionage coups in history, the Folks at Fifty-Eight is a beautifully paced tale of seduction, betrayal, blackmail, and murder that blurs the boundaries between fact and fiction.

A clever and witty read, today’s featured book is I Kill Me: Tales of a Jilted Hypochondriac by Tracy Tucker. It currently has an impressive 4.7 star rating with 32 reviews. “Ms. Tucker artfully wove a realistic and endearing story with just enough hilarity to keep me coming back for more.” —Reviewer with The Indie Bookshelf
*Please note that 100% of my U.S. November royalties will go to the Red Cross for the Hurricane Sandy relief effort.*
A Brief Synopsis of I Kill Me:
Christine Bacon has a fatal attraction. To all things fatal. A veteran hypochondriac, her near-death experiences are exacerbated when her husband proposes they have a menage a trois with Eleanor, his busty British massage therapist, to “shake things up.” As her marriage to Richard, a/k/a “Dick,” falls apart, so, too, does Christine, whose fear of her own demise causes her to research every freckle, blemish, cough, bump, lump, tingle and hiccup. She isn’t a doctor, but she plays one on the internet.
There is solace for Christine: in raising daughters Lily and Carli, leaning on her friends, and wearing out the shower massager. In order to heal, she struggles to become her own person and to view her symptoms (and ex-husband) as less malignant, while searching for that special someone who will love her–despite her grave condition.
About the Author:
Tracy H. Tucker is a middle school teacher with a Master’s Degree in Literacy from the University of Maine and the proud mother of three of the best people on Earth. She was previously published in Seventeen, Language Arts, Learning K-8 and Reader’s Digest. I KILL ME is her first novel. A new empty-nester and fighting it big-time, Tracy plans to keep busy inspiring the youth of America, writing, tending her small farm, and occasionally speaking to her husband.
Praise for I Kill Me:
“Hilarious, insightful and inspirational. This book is a fantastic read…I would definitely love to see this story being made into a film. This is the first book I have read by this author, but it definitely won’t be the last. I could not put this book down from the first page right till the last page. Five stars from me.” — Becky Sherriff, The Kindle Book Review
“The characters and dialogue were real and entertaining, and I loved all of the characters in this book, especially [Christine’s] patient and tolerant friends whose forbearance in the face of Christine’s constant dubious maladies was touching and genuine. This book is funny–really funny–while at the same time artfully and poignantly peeling away at the layers of Christine’s phobias. Tracy H. Tucker has a talent for humor, and is expert at blending that humor with insightful and intelligent prose.” — Kimberly Llewellyn, The Indie Book Review
